FRANK LLOYD WLEFT CAROLINE
Self-described ‘post-Americana’ artist Frank Lloyd Wleft has shared a touching new single in 'Caroline'. Enlisting help from his 'orchestra' consisting of members of Lilo and Deadletter, the London-based songwriter exercises an admirable level of restraint, giving intimate moments the space they deserve. Building gradually, 'Caroline' expands into a lilting tapestry of woven guitars, tumbling saxophone parts and jumpy bass guitar, guided by Frank's accomplished vocal melodies. He explains: "With the sparse opening, I wanted to experiment with space and silence in a pop context. The piece is especially indebted to the experimental minimalism of The Finks, who everyone needs to listen to. Lyrically, there’s a lot of longing in there, but I can’t decide if it’s supposed to be happy or sad.” Listen here now. -Holly Mullineaux
